2.1 A POWERFUL, CENTRALIZED REMOTE CONTROL
One of the most important Barracuda ‘key
feature’is its total remote control capability
via the Smart Coder Remoter dedicated
software running on all current Windows
platforms. Either bi-directional or
unidirectional, local and remote
communication modes (Serial or Modem–
see options) are supported. The software
screens reproduce, effectively and
intuitively, all the controls available from
the front panel menu, and integrates them
with new and useful functions for remote
programming. F.i, it is possible to give a
specific address to every piece of
equipment (Target) and to assemble them
into groups, enabling selective or multiple
Target programming at a glance. The
Smart Coder Remoter incorporates also a
Configuration Editor, which makes
viewing or changing the Barracuda
current settings still easier. Any operative configuration of a given encoder (f.i.input gain, pilot level, RDS
messages, etc) may be modified or set through commands / values provided in a textual (ASCII) way. At any
time system parameter settings can be saved, recalled or easily replicate on a limitless number of Targets!
2.2 IDEAL FOR TRANSMITTING SITES
The Barracuda can be installed at the studio or transmitter, depending on Yr system requirements. In the
most common applications, the Barracuda will be located at a scattered array of transmitting sites, receiving
separated L & R processed audio via STLs and directly driving the FM Exciter. The Smart Coder Remoter
control software may be also proven very useful for centralized control of distant Barracuda units: from a
central console and through multiple ways (radio and ISDN links, satellite data, IP connections, etc), You will
have the whole network under Yr fingers! The Barracuda’s Limiter input stage – combined to the high-
performance audio clipper – efficiently removes STL induced overshoot from processed signal while
maintaining constant the average modulation level. An AGC stage dynamically compensates for every input
level alteration, always allowing to achieve the best modulation, even when inputs are not finely tuned.
